About Our Kennel

Ridgeday Kennels of Montana is located 20 miles south of Miles City, Montana.  We are established breeders of German Shorthaired Pointers.  We have at most 3 litters per year.  We take excellent care of our bird dogs and of our puppies.  They are raised in a clean, healthy environment with 50 acres to run on.  We spend a lot of time with each puppy, socializing them, introducing them to water, to varying degrees of cover, to adult dogs, to children, to stairs, to dead birds and feathers, to being handled, to various commands such as "come," "kennel," "stay," and "no."  We have one litter at a time, which allows us to give each puppy the attention it needs to become the hunting dog and companion you want.

We guarantee the health of all puppies for sale and provide you with a written guarantee.  Before you pick up your pup, our veterinarian will have performed a well-puppy checkup, administered the first series of shots and wormed the puppies.  We require a deposit to hold your position in the selection order, we provide you with a Receipt for Deposit, we provide you with a written Contract of Sale complete with a written guarantee against hip dysplasia, and we provide you with the veterinarian's record of shots & worming and our information sheet containing basic information about the GSP breed and raising and training your puppy.

About This Litter

The dam, Ridgeday's Elegance (Elle), is a four-year-old white and liver, ticked and patched, German Shorthaired Pointer out of two field champion parents.  Her father, Wild River Jesse's Lee (Lee), is a 4-time NSTRA champion owned by John Attard of Columbia Falls, Montana.  Lee has a reputation in the Northwest of being an intense, talented bird finder with gentlemanly manners.  Her mother, Huenenbrink's Pearl, is also a NSTRA champion and is widely feared on the NSTRA circuit for her intensity, speed and bird finding ability.  We have begun trialing Elle on a limited basis and she has consistently been in the running, already accumulating points towards her championship.

Elle is a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer.  Her conformation is excellent, she weighs 50 pounds and has a very good nose.  She's a delight to hunt with in the field because she consistently finds and holds birds, has a striking point and is a good natural retriever.  This is Elle's second litter.  We own one pup from Elle's first litter with Crosswinds Truckin' Fritz as the sire.  Our dog is Ridgeday's Maybee Truckin' (May).  You can see pictures of her on the Photo Gallery Page.  She's also the dog at the top of this page diving off the dock to retrieve.  Pictures of some of the pups out of her  first litter are on the Photo Gallery Page.

The sire, Huenenbrink's RockofGibraltar (Rock), is a ten-year-old liver and roan German Shorthaired Pointer out of two NSTRA champions.  You can view Rock's and Elle's pedigrees on the page titled Pedigrees of Our Dogs.

Rock has sired many litters and this will be the last one for him.  Rock has a once-in-a-lifetime nose.  He is clearly the best bird finder we've seen.  All of our other dogs have good to very good noses but when braced with Rock, he will find the majority of the birds.  And the good news is this trait has been passed onto his pups.  Go to the Photo Gallery Page to see pictures of the 2-year-old pups from the last litter Rock sired.

Rock is a muscular, strong, medium-sized dog weighing about 55 pounds with excellent conformation and a charming, loving disposition.  Rock's our walk-behind-hunting dog.  We haven't used him as a trialing dog because we focused on the younger females in our kennel.  Not being involved in the trial circuit, however, has nothing to do with his abilities.  He is flashy and solid on point and is a good retriever.  He is a medium range hunting dog and adjusts his range depending upon the cover.

If you're interested in either a white GSP hunting dog or a liver and roan GSP hunting dog, you have a good chance of getting the puppy you want and very possibly the puppy of a lifetime.  This breeding should produce both white and dark German Shorthaired Pointer puppies.

We are excited about this breeding given the proven capabilities of the dam and sire and the championship background of all four grandparents.  If you would like to discuss this breeding with us, please call or email us.
