German Shorthaired Pointers for the Discriminating Hunter
About Our Kennel
Ridgeday Kennels of Montana is located 20 miles south of
Miles City, Montana. We are established breeders of German
Shorthaired Pointers. We've been in this business for the past 12
years. Set forth below are pictures of our kennel area, workout
arena and our house (front and back yards), which is just a few feet
from the Tongue River. We raise your pup in a healthy, clean
environment with 50 acres to run on that we own as well as access to
neighboring property in the 1000s of acres.

Our breeding philosophy is to produce males and
females that are even tempered, easy-to-train dogs with great intensity
in the field. We prefer medium-sized GSPs and that is what we aim
to produce. Our dogs typically have great muscularity through the
hips, a uniform chest-to-waist conformation, and blockier heads.
We study pedigrees, hunting abilities and temperament carefully before
ever planning a breeding.

We have at most 3 litters per year. We take
excellent care of our bird dogs and of our puppies. They are
raised in a clean, healthy environment with 50 acres to run on. We
spend a lot of time with each puppy, socializing them, introducing them
to water, to varying degrees of cover, to adult dogs, to children, to
stairs, to dead birds and feathers, to being handled, to various
commands such as "come," "kennel," "stay," and "no." We have one
litter at a time, which allows us to give each puppy the attention it
needs to become the hunting dog and companion you want.
We guarantee the health of all puppies for sale and
provide you with a written guarantee. Before you pick up your pup,
our veterinarian will have performed a well-puppy checkup, administered
the first series of shots and wormed the puppies. We require a
deposit to hold your position in the selection order, we provide you
with a Receipt for Deposit, we provide you with a written Contract of
Sale complete with a written guarantee against hip dysplasia, and we
provide you with the veterinarian's record of shots & worming and our
information sheet containing basic information about the GSP breed and
raising and training your puppy.

We hunt our dogs extensively throughout the hunting
season. We start hunting September 1 and spend at least 2-3 days a
week hunting with our dogs through December. That works out to
about 45 days of bird hunting in Montana each year. We also hunt
out of state, time permitting. We trial our dogs when we are not
hunting. This puts them in hunting-type situations another 5-6
weekends a year not to mention the training we do on live birds the rest
of the year. These dogs hunt.
