VALENTINE'S DAY
PUPPIES -- Taking deposits now for our litter between Dam Ridgeday's Elegance (Elle) and Sire Buck's Rawhide Eisenhower (Ike)
Are you looking for
a well bred hunting dog and companion? These two dogs are superb
walk behind hunting dogs and will produce pups with the same qualities.
Excellent dispositions, noses, prey drive, athleticism, pointing and
retrieving -- you cannot go wrong with a pup from this litter.
Call 406-421-5341 or email
ridgeway@rangeweb.net to discuss purchasing a pup.
You are welcome to visit our kennel and see these dogs work birds.
To show you how excited
we are about this breeding, we have 2 pups out of Elle and 1 pup out of
Ike & a half sister to Elle. We kept these 3 dogs because they
have the traits we want in a hunting and house dog.
Check out photos of May, Stub and Race on our
Photos Page. You'll see their conformation, but photos don't
show what they have proven to us over time in the field. That's
why we're breeding these two dogs -- to provide you a great hunting dog.
SIRE:
Buck's Rawhide Eisenhower ("Ike") is owned by Brad Schmitz. Brad's comment is: "I am excited to
see this mating with Elle and hope it captures the best of both these
fine shorthaired pointers."
Photos of Parents
Ike is a very solid hunting
dog and great family pet. If allowed, Ike will hunt all day long.
He is physically outstanding and very stylish in his search pattern, has
good range but is very easily brought in for close quarter, defined
cover hunting when needed. He is a master of large open field
hunting and has built his skills on sharp tailed grouse and gambles
quail. He is also very adept
at finding and pointing pheasants and adapts quickly to the running bird
aspects of this quarry. Ike locates birds in a quick, efficient
manner, his point is very solid and extremely staunch. Over the
years, his ability to relocate running birds without bumping them has
been honed to a fine and wonderful talent.
Ike's intensity for hunting
is tempered once in the house. He is very amiable and a good
citizen in the home. Brad has owned many good dogs and feels that
this specific dog has far exceeded his expectations for many years now.
Ike is out
of 2X NAC Born to Buck Bad Luck and FC AFC Rawhide Dixie Lee Clown
MH. His 3 littermates have all won numerous field trial events (NAC/FC/AFC
Council Mountain Buzz Saw, AKCFC 3D's Dixie's Cloud Dancer and 3D's
Dixie's Mocha Jo).
DAM:
Elle is the daughter of NSTRA Field Champion Huenenbrink's Pearl and
5xNSTRA Champion Wildriver Jesse's Lee and the granddaughter of FC Bonnies Kamikaze Rio
and FC Jack's Flashdance Crystal. Her bloodlines and genetics are solid
champions.
Elle is a very strong GSP with
great conformation, a beautiful solid liver head and light ticking. She
has wonderful prey drive, is a reliable bird finder and our best
pheasant and sharptail grouse dog, steady on point and an excellent
natural retriever, marking and tracking dog. This is her third, and last, litter. Her
first two litters produced excellent bird dogs with great pointing and
retrieving instincts.
Elle is both a steady, hard
working hunting dog and a wonderful house companion. The combination of
these two dogs should produce the walk-behind hunting dog or field
trialing dog that you are looking for.
Elle's hips are
rated OFA good. See Photos of Parents
About Our Kennel
Ridgeday Kennels of Montana is
located 20 miles south of Miles City, Montana. We are established
breeders of German Shorthaired Pointers. We've been in this
business for the past 13 years.
We have 5 GSPs -- 3 females and 2
males. Photos of Our Dogs. We never breed a female more than 3 times
total. Pregnancy is hard on the dogs and their main joy in life
is hunting -- we want to maintain their health so they can hunt.
Set forth below are pictures of our
kennel area, workout arena and house (front and back yards), which
is just a few feet from the Tongue River. We raise your pup in a
healthy, clean environment with 50 acres to run on that we own as well
as access to neighboring property in the 1000s of acres.

Our breeding philosophy is to produce males and
females that are even tempered, easy-to-train dogs with great intensity
in the field. We prefer medium-sized GSPs and that is what we aim
to produce. Our dogs typically have great muscularity through the
hips, a uniform chest-to-waist conformation, and blockier heads.
We study pedigrees, hunting abilities and temperament carefully before
ever planning a breeding. Pedigrees of
Our Dogs

Ridgeday's Rock's Eraser (Race)
We have at most 2 litters per year.
We take excellent care of our bird dogs and puppies. They are
raised in a clean, healthy environment with 50 acres to run on. We
spend a lot of time with each puppy, socializing them, introducing them
to water (weather permitting), varying degrees of cover, adult dogs,
children, dead birds and feathers, to being handled and to various
commands such as "come," "kennel," "stay," and "no."
We have one
litter at a time, which allows us to give each puppy the attention it
needs to become the hunting dog and companion you want.
Photos of Puppies
We guarantee the health of all puppies for sale and
provide you with a written guarantee. Before you pick up your pup,
our veterinarian will have performed a well-puppy checkup, administered
the first series of shots and wormed the puppies.
We require a deposit to hold your
position in the selection order and send you a Receipt for Deposit.
When you pick up your pup, we have a written Contract of Sale and give you with the veterinarian's record of shots & worming and our
information sheet containing basic information about the GSP breed and
raising and training your puppy.
We hunt our dogs extensively throughout the hunting
season. We start hunting September 1 and spend at least 2-3 days a
week hunting with our dogs through December. That works out to
about 45 days of bird hunting in Montana each year. We also hunt
out of state, time permitting. We trial our dogs when we are not
hunting. This puts them in hunting-type situations another 5-6
weekends a year not to mention the training we do on live birds the rest
of the year.
These dogs hunt.
